THE PROJECT

DM2I research website overview

DM2I is a research website created to make a complex academic subject more accessible through digital storytelling. Developed as part of a collaborative project, the platform explores how data, streaming platforms and generative artificial intelligence are reshaping the French independent music industry.

Rather than presenting the research as a static report, we designed a navigable web experience structured around key questions: who controls music data, how platforms redistribute visibility and revenue, and what new dependencies emerge for independent artists in an ecosystem increasingly shaped by automation and recommendation systems.

The site brings together editorial content, key figures, research summaries, interactive sections and data visualisations within a single interface. The challenge was to translate a dense and critical body of information into a clear, readable and engaging experience for a broader audience while preserving the seriousness of the research.

DEVELOPMENT

My contribution focused on the front-end development of the website and on the integration of the research content into a coherent digital interface. Building on the documentation and data work carried out throughout the broader DM2I project, I took part in structuring the site around a clear narrative hierarchy: contextual introduction, key findings, thematic research axes, visual explorations and ecosystem mapping.

On the implementation side, I worked on page composition, content integration and the development of interface sections intended to support readability and navigation across a large amount of information. This included layouts for editorial content, highlighted figures, and support for outputs such as interactive mapping and data visualisation modules.

More broadly, the project allowed me to refine the way I work between design references, content structure and front-end production. It also strengthened my interest in digital mediation: using interface design and development not only to present information, but to make a dense research subject more accessible, legible and engaging for a wider audience.

FINAL PRODUCT

The final platform combines several layers of content within a single reading experience: a contextual landing page, key research figures, thematic sections, a breakdown of the music production chain, and access points to more detailed outputs such as the interactive cartography and the project’s data visualisations. Rather than separating research, explanation and exploration, the website was designed to connect them within one coherent interface.

For me, this project was an opportunity to work on the translation of complex information into a structured front-end experience. It sits at the intersection of editorial design, development and digital mediation — using layout, pacing and interaction not just to display research, but to help users navigate it, understand it and stay engaged with it.

Outro

From idea to execution, each project is shaped with clarity, intention, and attention to detail — balancing creativity and technical precision. Open to all new professional opportunity and collaboration.
